Netflix Scholarship: The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) and Netflix have jointly announced scholarships for 100 students. Under this initiative, students will receive financial assistance covering up to 80% of their fees. The scholarship is open to students as well as working professionals from across the country. Six professional programs are covered under this scholarship scheme, comprising two one-year diploma courses and four six-month certificate courses. These include Interactive Comics and Sequential Arts, Visual Effects Mastery, Virtual Art Department Content Creation, Media Tech Workflow, Art of Character Animation, and E-sports and Gaming Management.

This initiative follows a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos on August 5, 2026. During the meeting, the Prime Minister remarked that India possesses a rich storytelling tradition and immense creative talent, which could be leveraged to transform the country into a global hub for content creation.

Netflix India Storytelling Initiative
The Netflix India Storytelling Initiative was launched with this vision in mind. Its objective is to prepare the next generation of talent for the AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics) sector in alignment with industry requirements. The curricula for IICT’s Visual Effects Mastery and Media Tech Workflow programs have been developed with input from Netflix, incorporating modern industry workflows and international standards.

Developing Talent Within the Country

Dr. Vishwas Deoskar, CEO of IICT, stated that this partnership with Netflix would provide students with the opportunity to understand industry needs alongside their academic studies and help cultivate superior talent for India's creative sector.

IICT has been established as the country's National Centre of Excellence for the AVGC-XR sector by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra, FICCI, and CII. The institute is currently operating from the NFDC complex in Mumbai, while its permanent 10-acre campus is being developed at Film City in Goregaon.
