Political turmoil has intensified before the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)'s key allies Nishad Party, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party and Apna Dal (S) have come together at a forum in Delhi to signal their strength within the alliance. The leaders of the three parties have also strengthened their claims regarding seat share in the upcoming elections. This meeting is being considered an important step in the changing political picture of UP.

During the national convention of Nishad Party in Delhi on August 20, National President of Nishad Party Dr. Sanjay Nishad, SBSP President Omprakash Rajbhar and Apna Dal (S) leader Ashish Patel were seen on one stage. Describing themselves as strong allies of the NDA, the three leaders gave a message about their political stake in the alliance. During this time, the issue of demand for more seats in the upcoming elections also came to the fore. The allies are now eyeing those seats where their social base and organization is considered to have a strong hold.

There was increased stir due to the claim for 35-35 seats.

Nishad Party, SBSP and Apna Dal (S) are said to be claiming about 35 seats each against BJP. The allies are especially eyeing their areas of influence among the backward, scheduled caste and tribal classes. In such a situation, talks within the NDA regarding seat distribution are going to be important in the coming days.

In the assembly elections 2022, BJP had given 16 seats to Nishad Party, in which 11 of its candidates reached the assembly after winning. Apna Dal (S) got 17 seats and 12 of its candidates were victorious. Whereas SBSP had contested that election along with Samajwadi Party. SBSP had won 18 seats, out of which six of its candidates were successful in winning. Now the political circumstances have changed and all three parties are with NDA. This is the reason why allies are putting pressure on the demand for more seats this time compared to the last elections.

Alliance's strategy will be visible in Panchayat elections also

Allies are also seeing the upcoming Panchayat elections as an opportunity to strengthen their political hold with BJP. It is believed that in these elections, the parties will work on the strategy of strengthening the organization in their respective social base areas. After this, the pressure regarding seat distribution in the assembly elections may increase further.

The atmosphere has already heated up due to Rajbhar's attitude.

SBSP President Omprakash Rajbhar has been showing his attitude regarding alliance and seat distribution in the past also. Nishad Party President Sanjay Nishad has been raising demands before the government regarding his major issues including reservation. Apna Dal (S) is also trying to increase its political stake in the areas under its influence.

In such a situation, this meeting in Delhi is not just a formal meeting but is being linked to the strategy for the upcoming assembly elections. The challenge for BJP will be to keep its allies together and prepare such a seat sharing formula that maintains the unity of the alliance and all the parties can get their political share.
