New Delhi: The second test of the series played between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo has ended in a draw. Team India was very close to victory at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground, but on the last day, Sri Lanka made a strong comeback in the match after losing. With this, India won the series 1-0, but also suffered a big shock in the WTC.

Gave follow on in the first innings, still could not wrap it up    

In this match, India had scored 503 runs for 9 wickets in the first innings. In response, Team India followed on by all out Sri Lanka for 290 runs. At stumps on the fourth day, Sri Lanka's score was 229 runs for 6 wickets and it seemed that India would easily win on the fifth day. But on the last day the story changed. Sri Lanka scored 429 runs for 9 wickets in the second innings and drew the match.

Sonal Dinusha's century saved the match   

All credit for saving Sri Lanka goes to Sonal Dinusha. Dinusha, who was in excellent form throughout the series, kept the Indian bowlers ineffective in the first session. He made a partnership of 112 runs for the 7th wicket with Keshara Nuwanta and played 242 balls. Dinusha completed his third Test fifty during this period.

Manav Suthar and Jadeja gave hope, then Kumara stopped it   

In the very first over of the second session, Manav Suthar gave India a comeback by dismissing Keshara Nuvanta for 46 runs. He faced 150 balls. After this, Prabhat Jayasuriya became the victim of Jadeja after scoring only 2 runs.

Dinusha and Jayasuriya added 25 runs in 71 balls. But Sonal Dinusha did not stop in the third and last session. He scored his second century in the match and returned unbeaten on 133 runs.

He was supported by Lahiru Kumara who ended India's hopes of victory by scoring 12 runs in 90 balls. The last batsman Asitha Fernando also did not give a wicket till 24 balls. Jadeja and Suthar took 3-3 wickets for India.

WTC points table loss if series won   

This draw proved costly for India. If India had won this match, it would have got 12 points and the PCT would have become 63.33, due to which the team would have reached fourth place in the WTC table. But due to the draw, both the teams got only 4 points each.

After this result, India's PCT has fallen from 53.33 to 51.51, although the team remains at fifth position. Whereas Sri Lanka's PCT is 33.33 and it is in sixth place.
