A representative of FLC Group confirmed his death on Thursday, adding that a funeral visitation will be held on Friday morning at Gia Lai Provincial General Hospital. The memorial service will take place at noon the same day.

Michael was appointed FLC vice chairman on July 31. With 40 years of industry experience, he was in charge of overseeing areas including aviation and port infrastructure investment.

He also held several other senior positions, including co-chairman of the Vietnam Business Forum, chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hanoi, and roles at several other multinational corporations.

In these roles, Michael Vu Nguyen participated in business exchanges and efforts to connect companies with government agencies, as well as contributing to the promotion of economic cooperation between Vietnam and the U.S.

In July 2026, he helped connect FLC with HAS Development Corporation on a project to renovate and upgrade two airports in Gia Lai and Pleiku.

HASDC is based in the U.S. and specializes in developing and advising on aviation infrastructure, particularly in Latin America and Central America.

Before joining FLC, Michael served as Boeing Vietnam’s director from September 2021. He was responsible for strengthening Boeing’s presence and supporting growth opportunities in the Vietnamese market.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Elizabethtown College and a master’s degree in business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He was fluent in three languages: Vietnamese, English and Spanish.
