Regarding quick and as per rules disposal of land, rehabilitation and other pending cases of families affected by Kanhar Dam, District Magistrate Charchal Gaur held a detailed review meeting with Kanhar Department and concerned revenue officials in the Collectorate Auditorium. The District Magistrate said that by giving priority to the resolution of cases to the affected families, timely action should be ensured with departmental coordination.

The District Magistrate directed Deputy District Magistrate Obara and Deputy District Magistrate Duddhi to resolve the pending cases to land registry, verification and other necessary formalities in the affected areas on priority basis. He said that there should not be unnecessary delay in getting the benefits to the eligible affected families as per rules. In the meeting, problems to purchasing land of farmers required for canal construction were also discussed in detail.

The District Magistrate directed the concerned officers to examine the land purchase cases to farmers and ensure their resolution as per the rules. The District Magistrate directed that joint Chaupals of Revenue and Kanhar Department should be organized in the villages affected by Kanhar Dam from 1st to 15th September. In these Chaupals, the officers should listen to the land, registry, verification, rehabilitation and other problems of the villagers and affected families on the spot and ensure that those issues which can be resolved on the spot are resolved as per the rules. The remaining cases should be disposed of in a timely manner by effectively monitoring them.

Regarding providing rehabilitation package to the remaining 252 families affected by the submerged area of ​​the dam, the District Magistrate gave instructions to complete the verification process soon. He said that the verification work should be done with complete transparency and as per the prescribed procedure, so that the benefits of rehabilitation package can be provided to the eligible affected families. The progress of the remaining works to the construction of Kanhar Dam was also reviewed in the meeting. The District Magistrate directed the concerned officers to ensure prompt completion of the pending construction work and to pay special attention to the quality and timeliness of the works.

The District Magistrate gave instructions to ensure necessary police security arrangements for the safety of the dam. Also, in view of the need for easy movement of local people near the dam, instructions were given to the concerned officials to conduct a survey for the possibilities of constructing a bridge at a suitable site.

The District Magistrate said that the Revenue and Canal Departments should work in mutual coordination to solve the problems of the families affected by the Kanhar Project. The objective of organizing Chaupals is to ensure direct access of the administration to the affected people and move their pending cases towards resolution at the local level as much as possible. Chief Engineer, Kanhar, all concerned Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers along with officials of Revenue and Kanhar Department were present in the meeting.
