Political turmoil has intensified after the big demonstration against caste reservation at Jantar Mantar in the country's capital New Delhi. In this sequence, Union Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader JP Nadda met the delegation of 'Remove Reservation Movement' (RHA) on Thursday. This meeting has taken place at a time when protests by youth and various organizations demanding changes in the reservation system in the country and reservation on economic basis have become a topic of discussion. Cordial talks between JP Nadda and the delegation Union Health Minister JP Nadda, while sharing information on the social media platform 'X' after this high-level meeting, said that as part of a pre-planned programme, he met the key representatives of the movement – Harsh Dubey, Mrityunjay Pathak and Ran Bahadur Singh Chauhan. The talks took place between the two sides in a very cordial atmosphere. Nadda also indicated that another round of meetings will be held soon on this sensitive topic, although the detailed insiders of this meeting have not been shared officially. The delegation called the meeting a positive step. On the other hand, Harsh Dubey, one of the prominent faces of the 'Remove Reservation Movement', has termed this meeting with the Union Minister as a very positive step towards dialogue and solution. Talking to the media, he said that this is a good initiative for the welfare and equality of the society. The delegation informed the Union Minister about the objectives of the massive demonstration held at Jantar Mantar on 21 August. Harsh Dubey clarified that his aim is not to go against any class or society, but to express his views in a peaceful and democratic manner for equal opportunities, a just system and necessary reforms in the national interest. What are the main demands of 'Remove Reservation Movement'? Youth across the country are uniting under the banner of 'Remove Reservation Movement', a popular page on Instagram with over 5.6 million followers. The main demand of this organization is that the basis of reservation in educational institutions and government jobs should be solely based on economic status instead of caste identity. Along with this, the protesters have raised a strong demand for strict implementation of the policy of 'One Family, One Reservation' and withdrawal of the recently discussed UGC directives to equity. Political equations and the meaning of the upcoming elections: Political analysts believe that this meeting is very important in view of the assembly elections to be held in many states including Uttar Pradesh early next year. Although the government has already clarified that the reservation system provided by the Constitution cannot be abolished, still the doors of dialogue have been kept open to address the concerns of the economically weaker and backward sections of the general category. The government has already indicated to the Supreme Court to reconsider the UGC instructions. This high-level dialogue may lead to new political equations on the reservation front in the coming days.
