House Downstairs, a café co-owned by popular Singaporean DJ Chen Ning, is closing its doors in November after more than five years in operation.
Chen Ning said in a Facebook post Wednesday that the shop at Singapore’s Ulu Pandan Community Club will serve its final customers on Nov. 3.
“THANK YOU so much for the support since the start of our little humble biz in 2021,” she wrote. “Goodbyes are always tough, especially when each and everyone of you has made our space more than just a space.”
She said the shop is closing after its lease at the community club expired.

Chen Ning is a DJ at Mediacorp’s YES 933 radio station and the host of its popular The Daka Show.
She co-owns the café with her friend Chong Yanjing. The shop, which opened in February 2021, serves a mix of Asian and brunch dishes alongside specialty coffee.
The business cost S$120,000 (US$94,500) to set up and had yet to break even when 8days reported on it in 2023.
“We wish we could have more time but some things are beyond our control,” Chen Ning wrote in Wednesday’s post, describing the café as her “second home.”
