Nepal Floods : The sudden severe flood that occurred in Nepal on Wednesday has caused massive destruction. At least 178 people died in this natural disaster, while hundreds of people are reported missing across the country. According to Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, more than 300 Indian citizens are among the nearly 800 people missing. Considering the seriousness of the disaster, the administration is continuously engaged in relief and rescue operations.

Concern increased about the number of Indians

The number of missing people in Nepal is constantly changing. Earlier information received said that at least 133 Indian citizens were among the more than 750 missing people. About 50 pilgrims on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra were also said to be included in these. However, Nepal’s Foreign Minister later said that more than 300 Indians are suspected to be among the missing. Thousands of families have lost their homes and complete information is yet to be received from many affected areas.

Indian Embassy released helpline numbers

The Indian Embassy in Nepal is continuously monitoring the situation. Helpline numbers +977 985 131 6807 and +977 970 910 7500 have been issued for Indian citizens and their families in need of assistance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has talked to the leadership of Nepal and has assured to provide all possible assistance. India has taken the initiative to provide humanitarian assistance and essential medical supplies for relief and rescue operations.

Alert in Indian states bordering Nepal (Nepal Floods)

In view of the serious flood situation in Nepal, the border states of India like Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar (Nepal Floods) have also been alerted. The water level of the rivers coming from Nepal to India is being continuously monitored. NDRF and SDRF teams have been deployed in sensitive areas. According to officials, there is a possibility of the water level of many rivers including Gandak increasing. Following the instructions of the Central Water Commission, the concerned state governments are making necessary preparations. The coming 24 hours are considered very important and relief agencies are continuously monitoring the situation.
