After the devastation in Nepal, there is danger of flood in Bihar, administration alert in Kursela

Kursela, Katihar. After the massive devastation in Nepal, the risk of floods has increased in Bihar also. The administration is on alert mode in view of the possibility of increase in the water level of other rivers including Kosi and Ganga due to water coming from Nepal. Low-lying areas and embankments are being continuously monitored. In this sequence, the team of Administrative and Water Resources Department inspected the embankment area in Kursela block of Katihar district.

Circle Officer Anupam, SDO Amit Kumar and JE of Water Resources Department jointly took stock of the low-lying areas and Madheli Dam in view of the possible flood situation. During the inspection, the officials took a detailed look at the strength of the embankments, the condition of sensitive places and water level. The personnel present on the spot were instructed to maintain constant vigil on the embankments and immediately report any abnormal situation to senior officials.

At present, there has been some relief in the inspection of officials. The link dam from Gumti Tola to Barandi and the right embankment of Barandi have been found safe. Officials said that the administration is fully prepared to deal with the possible flood situation and the situation is being constantly monitored.

It was told that due to the rising water level of Kosi and Ganga in Kursela area, there is already a danger of flood in the low-lying areas. People are worried due to rising water level in many villages. In such a situation, the fear of additional water coming from Nepal has increased the concern of the administration as well as the villagers. At present, the administration is keeping a constant eye on the water level of rivers and the condition of embankments. Officials say that in case of any possible danger, necessary action will be taken immediately.
