RRC Recruitment 2026: Western Railway (RRC/WR) has announced a recruitment opportunity for sportspersons. The Railway Recruitment Cell has invited online applications from eligible sportspersons for 64 posts. Interested candidates can apply online via the official website, rrc-wr.com, from 10:00 AM on September 1, 2026, to 6:00 PM on September 30, 2026.
What are the educational qualifications?
For Level 5/4 posts, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
For Level 3/2 posts, candidates must have passed the 12th standard or an equivalent examination. Additionally, candidates who have passed the 10th standard and possess an Act Apprenticeship or an ITI certificate recognized by NCVT/SCVT are also eligible to apply.
For Level 1 posts, passing the 10th standard is mandatory. Candidates holding an ITI qualification, an equivalent qualification, or a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by NCVT are also eligible.
What are the essential eligibility criteria?
Post | Eligibility
Athletics | Priority in recruitment will be given to sportspersons who have won medals in national and international competitions.
Ball Badminton | Achievements in BBFI-recognized competitions after December 17, 2025, will be considered valid.
Bodybuilding | Certificates from competitions affiliated with IBBF after December 31, 2021, will not be considered valid.
Boxing | Achievements in the 'Youth' category at international competitions on or after September 25, 2016, will be treated as equivalent to the 'Junior' category.
Cricket | Players who have participated in major national-level competitions or reached the quarter-finals are eligible to apply.
Handball | Achievements in competitions organized by the Handball Federation of India after September 5, 2023, will not be considered valid.
Hockey | Players who have performed well in national or international level competitions will be given an opportunity.
Volleyball | Certificates from competitions organized by the Volleyball Federation of India after January 2, 2017, will not be considered valid. Powerlifting: Achievements in competitions affiliated with the IPF after October 3, 2017, will not be considered valid.
Weightlifting: Eligibility will be determined based on the new bodyweight categories effective from June 1, 2025.
Wrestling: Certificates from competitions organized by the WFI or its affiliated bodies after March 10, 2025, will be considered valid.
Age Limit
For NTPC sports quota recruitment, the candidate's age must be between 18 and 25 years as of January 1, 2027. This means the candidate must have been born between January 1, 2002, and January 1, 2009.
Application Fee
The application fee for General and other candidates is ₹500. Candidates found eligible who appear for the examination will receive a refund of ₹400 (after deducting bank charges).
The fee for SC, ST, Ex-servicemen, PwD (Persons with Disabilities), female, minority, and Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates is ₹250. Candidates found eligible who appear for the examination will receive a refund of the full ₹250 amount (after deducting bank charges).
