Former Haryana MLA Bali Pehalwan sentenced to life imprisonment in 15 year old murder case

Rohtak, 27 August 2026: The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Kapil Rathi had convicted seven persons, including former INLD MLA Balbir Singh (alias Bali Pehelwan), in the 15-year-old murder case. On Thursday, the court had awarded life imprisonment to these seven accused.

Meanwhile, after getting the benefit of doubt, the other eight accused were acquitted. This incident is of May 5, 2011; Vishnu, a resident of Ningana village, was shot dead at Kalanaur grain market during a dispute regarding donation for the cow shed in Mokhra village.

Based on the complaint filed by Sitaram, former sarpanch of Basana village and brother-in-law of the deceased, a case of murder was registered against 21 persons including Balbir Singh (alias Bali Pehelwan). Several Panchayat meetings were also held regarding this case.

These people were punished

On this basis, the court has convicted Bali Pehalwan, a resident of Mokhra, as well as Sunil, Dinesh (alias Kala), Rajesh, Pawan, Sunil (alias Sulhad) and Mukesh.

The remaining eight persons Satendra alias Mintu, Paramjeet, Satish, Kuldeep, Rajendra, Dinesh, Ravindra and Phool Kumar have been acquitted. Bali wrestler was earlier granted bail by the High Court; However, in 2013, the Supreme Court canceled his bail and ordered him to surrender before the trial court.

Settlement was settled after one and a half decade

In this case which has been going on for almost one and a half decade, now everyone's eyes are on the hearing to decide the punishment. Meanwhile, after the accused were convicted and sentenced, Sitaram, the daughter-in-law of the deceased, commented that it took a very long time to get justice. He expressed hope that the court would give harsh punishment to the culprits.
