In Cachar district of Assam, the joint squad of Assam Rifles and Directorate of Customs Intelligence (DRI) Silchar Unit seized a consignment of 5.60 lakh methamphetamine i.e. Yaba tablets worth about Rs 168 crore. Officials said that the total weight of the bullets was about 60 kilograms. During the operation, an alleged drug smuggler was arrested and a truck suspected to be used for smuggling was seized.

The same action was taken in the Jujang Pahad area of ​​Lakhipur complex in Cachar district on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. According to the officials, there was no possibility of the seized consignment coming from Manipur to other parts of the country via Assam route.

Information would have been received that a large consignment of ammunition was being transported by vehicle to the Silchar unit of Assam Rifles and DRI. After that, targeted action was taken in Cachar. The security personnel kept an eye on any suspicious vehicle in Jujang mountain area, stopped it and took a quick look at it.

During the fall, a large amount of solid material in the form of tablets was found. According to officials, a total of 5,60,000 methamphetamine or yaba pills were seized. Its weight was about 60 kilograms and its estimated market value was said to be more than Rs 168 crore.

The possibility of the acidic substance being transported further to Assam and other parts of the country is being investigated.
