Kathmandu, 28 August 2026: Relief and rescue operations are going on in full swing after the sudden devastating floods in Trishuli and Rasuwa areas located on the Tibet border in Nepal. Keeping in mind the increasing risk of flood, Trishuli area is being evacuated again. Along with this, road construction work from Trishuli to Rasuva has been temporarily stopped and all JCBs and heavy machinery have been shifted to safe places.
The Nepali Army has intensified the rescue operation to rescue people trapped due to flood water filling the tunnel of a hydropower project in Rasuwa district. Amidst extremely dangerous and inaccessible conditions, the army rescue team has succeeded in safely evacuating two employees from the tunnel. Currently, a search operation is going on to get exact information about how many other people are trapped inside the tunnel.
Meanwhile, according to the information given by the Ministry of External Affairs, 21 people from Tamil Nadu who were safely rescued from flood affected areas have reached Kathmandu. Before returning to India, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava had visited all the citizens and inquired about their well-being. It is noteworthy that this sudden flood that occurred on the Tibet-Nepal border on August 26 has caused huge devastation, in which, along with the powerful flow of the flood, earthquakes and big stones were spread in the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers.

22 people missing in Telangana, UNICEF team reaches Nuwakot
On the other hand, the Telangana government has started the search for 22 missing people in the state after the Nepal flood. More than 80 calls have been received on the helpline started at Telangana Bhawan in New Delhi, out of which 20 cases involving 23 people have been identified. In which 6 people are from Telangana and 17 are NRIs of Telangana origin. Additionally, a team of UNICEF representatives has also reached Nuwakot to gain insight into the ground facts and humanitarian situation and is cooperating with the local government in relief work.
