Ather Energy Share: There was a strong rise in the shares of two-wheeler electric company Ather Energy on Friday. During trading, the company's shares rose by more than 6% to reach an intraday high of Rs 1,592. This rise in shares came after a block deal worth about Rs 1,758.2 crore.
In this block deal, about 1.19 crore shares of Ather Energy were transacted, which is equal to about 3.9% stake of the company. However, it is not yet clear who bought and who sold shares in this deal.
What is the reason behind block deal?
This big transaction in Ather Energy has happened at a time when Hero MotoCorp had announced plans to increase its stake in the company a day earlier. After this, there was a stir in the market regarding the shares of Ather Energy.
According to sources, Hero MotoCorp was planning to invest up to Rs 1,758 crore to increase its stake in Ather Energy. The company can buy additional 2.92% stake.
How much stake does Hero MotoCorp hold in Ather?
Currently, Hero MotoCorp holds about 29.88% stake in Ather Energy. After purchasing additional stake, it can increase to around 32.8%.
If this deal is completed, Hero MotoCorp's position in Ather Energy will become stronger. Hero is already the largest shareholder of the company and its influence may increase further after the increase in stake.
However, whether the block deal of Rs 1,758.2 crore done on Friday is to Hero MotoCorp or not has not been officially confirmed yet.
Ather raised huge amount even a day before
On August 27, the board of Ather Energy had approved the issuance of shares and convertible warrants as part of a plan to raise funds of about Rs 1,200 crore.
India-Japan Fund, represented by National Investment and Infrastructure Fund, was allotted 16.3 lakh equity shares at a price of Rs 1,230 per share. The company got about Rs 200 crore from this.
Meanwhile, about 76.2 lakh convertible warrants have been allotted to Hero MotoCorp at a price of Rs 1,260 per warrant. If all the warrants are converted into shares, it will be equivalent to an investment of about Rs 1,000 crore.
How is Ather Energy's business?
Ather Energy is one of the leading companies manufacturing electric scooters. The company's major models also include Rizta, which has been designed keeping families in mind.
The company's loss in the June quarter was less than before. Strong demand for Rizta scooter was considered one of the main reasons for reducing losses.
The business of the company has also increased rapidly. The turnover of Ather Energy in the financial year 2026 was Rs 3,671.76 crore. It was Rs 2,255 crore in FY 2025 and Rs 1,753.8 crore in FY 2024.
Where are investors eyeing now?
Amidst the block deal, Hero MotoCorp's plan to increase its stake and the increasing sales of the company, Ather Energy's stock has come into focus of the market. However, the rise in any stock should not be considered an investment signal based on just one news. Before investing, it is important to assess the financial results, valuation and risks of the company.
