Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has accepted yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s gesture to end their recent public feud, with the actor saying that festivals are a time to forgive past disagreements.
The development came after the two exchanged sharp remarks earlier this month over Kangana’s controversial description of Gen Z and young protesters as “generation gutter”.
Kangana accepts Ramdev’s gesture
Kangana shared a video on her Instagram Stories in which Ramdev spoke about ending their disagreement through dialogue. He also said he had a gift for her for Raksha Bandhan and would call her to extend his wishes.
Responding to the video, Kangana said the festival was an occasion to forgive past mistakes and welcomed Ramdev’s call for conversation rather than confrontation.
She wrote that her “brother Baba Ram Dev ji” was right in saying that there should be “vivaad nahi, samvaad” — dialogue instead of dispute.
Kangana also said she accepted Ramdev’s sweets and affection as an elder brother on Raksha Bandhan, thanking him and wishing him a long life.
How the Kangana-Ramdev feud began
The public spat began after Kangana’s remarks about Gen Z and young protesters drew criticism. She had referred to them as “generation gutter”, prompting Ramdev to comment on her statement.
Ramdev criticised the remark and questioned Kangana’s past and upbringing, describing her comments about young people as a reflection of what he called a “corrupted mind”.
Kangana subsequently hit back at the yoga guru, accusing him of crossing a line by commenting on her youth and private life. She also referred to past Supreme Court criticism involving Ramdev and his business- claims.
Ramdev calls for dialogue
Ramdev has now indicated that he does not want the disagreement to escalate further. He said there should be no hatred or hostility in the country and that disputes should be resolved through conversation.
Kangana’s response suggests that she is willing to move past the confrontation, at least for now.
The reconciliation comes on Raksha Bandhan, adding a personal and symbolic dimension to the public exchange between the actor-politician and the yoga guru.
For now, Kangana’s acceptance of Ramdev’s gesture appears to have brought a more conciliatory tone to their previously heated war of words.
