Rekha Government On Onion Price Hike: The rising prices of onion have started making people cry. Even in the country's capital Delhi, onion has become expensive by one and a half times in the last 10 days. Rekha Gupta government has taken a big step to provide relief to the people from the continuously increasing prices of onion in Delhi. Delhi government will sell onion at Rs 35 per kg. Actually, 40 mobile vans have been prepared for this. All these 40 mobile vans will sell onions at Rs 35 per kg at 40 places in the capital Delhi.
Here, special 'Kanda Express' carrying 456 metric tonnes of onion from Nashik has reached Delhi. After reaching Delhi, onions will be sent to 9 major central stores. After this, mobile vans will be deployed at 40 identified places in Delhi. Onion will be made available to the common people at the rate of Rs 35 per kg.
Delhi government is continuously monitoring the situation regarding onion prices and availability. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta held a review meeting regarding the availability of onion and sugar. According to the government, there is adequate availability of both the essential commodities in Delhi. At present there is no shortage of any kind. According to the Chief Minister's Office, if needed, onion and sugar will be purchased from NAFED, a central government organization. After this they will be made available in different areas of Delhi.
Delhi government will bear transportation and other expenses
These essential commodities will be sold at the rate received from NAFED. Delhi government will bear other expenses including transportation. The government says that its aim is to provide essential goods to the people at reasonable prices. Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa was also present in the meeting. The government has made it clear that the market situation is being constantly monitored. Further steps will be taken if necessary.
