New Delhi. Earthquake tremors were felt in Sichuan province of south-west China on Friday. According to China Earthquake Networks Center, an earthquake of 5.1 magnitude was recorded in Longchang city. This news has come at a time when the neighboring country Nepal is already struggling with natural disasters like floods and earthquakes, due to which there has been increased concern about geological movements in the entire Himalayan and surrounding areas.

This earthquake in Sichuan was recorded on Friday. China Earthquake Networks Center i.e. CENC has confirmed this. The epicenter of the earthquake is said to be Longchang city. It is worth noting that in the neighboring country of the same region, Nepal, three days ago, landslides and floods near the Bhotekoshi river caused massive devastation, in which more than 490 people have lost their lives and about 1,500 people are still missing. Now a new lake has formed in the same area, which is continuously filling with water and due to its breakage, there is a danger of new flood.

Meanwhile, a mild earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale was also recorded in Nepal late on Friday night, although it did not cause any major damage. This latest earthquake in Sichuan has further increased the vigilance regarding geological activities in this entire region. At present there is no confirmation of loss of life or property in China.
