Tottenham Hotspur have formally joined the chase for Everton attacker Iliman Ndiaye, adding their name to a major Premier League contest that already includes Arsenal and Manchester City. Spurs are keen to bring in one more attacking option for Roberto De Zerbi’s squad before the summer transfer window closes.

Tottenham enter race for Ndiaye

Tottenham Hotspur are the latest Premier League giants to show concrete interest in Everton’s Ndiaye. The north London club have been extremely busy in the ongoing transfer window, already approving spending of more than £300 million as part of De Zerbi’s squad rebuild.

Even after the arrivals of Omar Marmoush and Savio from Manchester City, the Italian manager is still pushing to land one more top-class wide forward to complete his attacking setup before the deadline. Although Spurs had previously been strongly linked with Cody Gakpo, attention has now turned to the Senegal international, who has emerged as one of the most exciting players at Goodison Park.

Spurs’ interest creates an intriguing three-club contest with Manchester City and Arsenal, with both sides closely tracking the 26-year-old’s situation.

De Zerbi wants one final attacking addition

Speaking about his team’s transfer plans on Friday, De Zerbi said: "I didn’t expect a transfer window like we have done. I think we can do one player more in one specific position. Yesterday we went to dinner with the owners, Johan [Lange, sporting director] and Vinai [Venkatesham, chief executive] and we spoke about this. All of us are on the same page and a very good connection."

That public statement makes it clear Tottenham’s business in the market may not be over yet, despite their record outlay so far.

Ndiaye turns down Saudi switch

Ndiaye’s future has attracted heavy speculation throughout the summer. The Senegal international had looked set for a big-money move to the Saudi Pro League earlier in the window, with reports indicating that a transfer to Al-Hilal was close to being completed before the player made a dramatic late change of mind.

His preference to stay in the Premier League has drawn interest from some of the division’s biggest clubs, with Manchester City seeing him as a possible replacement for players who have left the squad.

Everton set huge asking price

In spite of the growing number of clubs interested in him, Everton remain in a strong bargaining position and are not willing to part with one of their most valuable players for a cut-price fee. The Toffees are believed to have put an eye-catching £80m valuation on the Senegal star, a price designed to deter everyone except the most determined bidders.

With Ndiaye tied to a contract on Merseyside until the summer of 2029, Everton are under no urgent need to sell, even though the player recently turned down the chance to sign a new deal.

When asked on Friday about the interest in Ndiaye, Everton manager David Moyes said: "We’re certainly not in a hurry to sell our best players, that’s for sure. As far as I know, we’ve got nothing to be concerned about, we’ve had no contact from any club. Somebody told me we had contact with Al-Hilal during the summer, we had nothing from them."
