Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday. Various issues to the state were discussed during the meeting. According to the Chief Minister Secretariat, Amit Shah listened carefully to the issues of Manipur and assured that the Central Government will take all possible steps to fulfill the wishes and aspirations of the people of the state.

Chief Minister Khemchand said that Amit Shah will visit Manipur in the first week of October. During this, he will lay the foundation stone of the proposed new medical college in Senapati district and review other ongoing development projects in the state. According to the Chief Minister, Shah has given consent for laying the foundation stone of the Medical College.

Chief Minister Umnam Khemchand Singh visited Amit Shah at his official residence. He presented various issues to the state before the Union Home Minister. According to the Chief Minister's Secretariat, Shah listened to these issues in detail and assured cooperation from the Centre.

After the visit, the Chief Minister said that the Central Government will work to fulfill the wishes and aspirations of the people of Manipur. However, detailed information about all the issues discussed in the meeting has not been disclosed.

Chief Minister Khemchand said that Amit Shah will visit Manipur in the first week of October. During this, he will lay the foundation stone of a new medical college in Senapati district and review other development projects.

According to the Chief Minister's Secretariat, the establishment of the medical college was recently approved by the state cabinet. This institute will be established in Senapati district, where the Naga community has a large population.

The proposed medical college in Senapati district is a project to the expansion of health and education system of the state. According to the information given by the Chief Minister, Amit Shah has given consent to lay the foundation stone of this project.

According to the Chief Minister's Office, during his visit to Manipur, Amit Shah will also review other development projects besides the Medical College. However, the detailed list of which projects will be reviewed has not been released.

During the meeting, Amit Shah also praised the resumption of Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati bus service. The state government had restarted this interstate public transport service on August 21 after a gap of almost three years.

According to government and local reports, a total of 125 passengers traveled on this route on the first day via two buses and five winged vehicles. The buses passed through sensitive areas like Kangpokpi and Senapati and reached Guwahati via Nagaland.

Amit Shah also praised the efforts of the state government to restore free movement of people on National Highway-2. NH-2 is a road connecting Manipur to Nagaland and further to Assam.

Normal traffic on this route was affected due to the long-running sexual conflict in the state. When the bus service resumed on August 21, 125 passengers traveled from Imphal to Guwahati.

Public bus service on the Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati route was affected for almost three years. According to reports, public transport on this important interstate route was affected after the conflict that started in 2023.

After the resumption of bus service, public transport continued on this route.

During his October visit, Amit Shah will also review other development projects of Manipur. The Chief Minister has said that the Central Government will provide all possible support to the state in the development sector.

Taking forward projects to health, transport and infrastructure facilities in the state is among the priorities of the government. Laying the foundation stone of the medical college and reviewing the development plans will be part of this effort.

The violence in Manipur in the last few years has affected the social, economic and transport systems. It has been challenging for the state government to restore normal life.

Resumption of bus service and efforts to increase free travel on NH-2 are steps taken in this direction. The government is focusing on normalizing public transport and inter-district connectivity.

The meeting of the Chief Minister and the Union Home Minister has taken place at a time when various issues are under discussion at the political and social level in Manipur. According to reports, the activism of organizations and leaders has also increased regarding issues to NRC, population census and delimitation.
