With Swiggy's new 'Search by Train' feature, passengers can search for dining options by entering their train number or name on the app. It will show the meals available according to their train route and time, meaning no need to search for different restaurants.

'Food on Train' Susat in two years

Swiggy has brought this trend into form right now. According to him, his 'Food on Train' business has grown rapidly in the last two years. From August 2024 to August 2026, there has been a significant increase in orders placed through this service. This format is becoming very popular. An increase of as much as 12 times has been recorded. Interestingly, its use has grown almost twice as fast in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities as compared to metro cities. In 2024, Swiggy's 'Food on Train' service was initially available at 66 stations. Now, the company has expanded its services to 201 more stations along with places like Kolhapur, Wardha, Shahdol, Kakinada, Bharatpur, Chittoor, Thanjavur, Raigad, Jamnagar, Indore and Tundla.

Finding cheaper alternatives is easy

Swiggy has also launched '99 Store Widget'. With the help of this, cheap food options are also easily available on the travel app. This makes it easy to choose meals according to your budget during long journeys. The preferences of train passengers are also changing. Hence the demand for lassi has increased by 60%, buttermilk demand by 40% and Mojito demand by 90% compared to last year. In addition to this, the demand for general drinks has also decreased. Among the total train orders, the highest demand is for complete meals such as thali. Its proportion is more than 65%.
