New Delhi: Today is going to be an important day for the women of Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will release the first installment of Lakshmi Yojana on August 26. Under this, eligible women will be given financial assistance of Rs 2,500 every month. A big program will be organized by the Delhi government at Talkatora Stadium to release the first installment. The program will start at 11 am, in which installments will be given to about 2,500 women. Till now, more than 6 lakh women have been registered for this scheme.
How to get the amount of Rs 2500?
Under Lakshmi Yojana, women from economically weaker sections will be given Rs 2,500 every month. Beneficiaries will get two options for payment. In the first option, Rs 1,500 will be deposited in the bank account in the form of RD or FD. This amount will remain locked-in till 31 July 2029. The remaining Rs 1,000 will be given in the Central Bank Digital Currency i.e. CBDC wallet. Under the second option, the woman can deposit the entire amount of Rs 2,500 in her RD or FD account.
Eligibility for Lakshmi Yojana in Delhi
To avail the benefits of the scheme, the age of the woman must be between 21 to 60 years. The annual income of the family should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh. It is also necessary for the applicant woman or her family to be a resident of Delhi for at least 10 years. Aadhaar card, PAN card, income certificate, Delhi Voter ID and bank account linked to Aadhaar will be necessary for the application.
Which women will not get the benefit?
Women working in government jobs, income tax payers and families filing GST will not come under the purview of this scheme. Apart from this, families owning four wheelers, families using more than 2400 units of electricity annually and women with more than three living children will also not get the benefit. If you take advantage of the scheme by giving wrong information, the government can withdraw the amount. Additionally, legal action can also be taken against the person concerned.
Delhi government has kept Rs 5,110 crore for Lakshmi Yojana in the budget for financial year 2026-27. According to the government, this scheme is expected to provide financial assistance to more than 17 lakh women of Delhi.
