Asian Games 2026: This time Japan is hosting the Asian Games 2026, but BCCI is not at all happy with the players' stay and other facilities in Japan. BCCI sources say that both BCCI and Asian Cricket Council are unhappy with the arrangements there, due to which BCCI is now considering sending a 'B' team and not its main team for this tournament. Let us tell you that the Asian Games 2026 will start from September 19 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Men's cricket matches will be played in the Asian Games from 24 September to 3 October.
In the Asian Games to be hosted by Japan, men's cricket matches will be played from 24 September to 3 October, while women's cricket matches will be played from 17 to 22 September. For this, discussions are already going on about Team India's squad, but meanwhile the news is coming that both BCCI and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) are not at all happy with the facilities and arrangements for the players in Japan. A BCCI source says that an observer can be sent there to take stock of the preparations. If concrete arrangements are not made for the players to stay there, then BCCI may consider sending 'B' team instead of its main team in these games.
BCCI and ACC are not happy with the arrangements for cricket players in Japan
Quoting news agency ANI, a BCCI source said that both BCCI and ACC are angry about the facilities for the players in Japan. BCCI is planning to send an observer to take stock of the conditions there, who will submit his report regarding the arrangements for the players in Japan. If the facilities there are not found to be good, then BCCI may decide to send a 'B' team instead of its main team for the Asian Games.
The BCCI source also said that in an ACC meeting, concern was expressed to the Japan Olympic officials that the dressing rooms on the ground were made in tents. Not only this, the washrooms were also at a distance of 500 meters from those tents. Apart from this, the hotel rooms are also small, which will cause problems to the players.
Shreyas Iyer has got the captaincy
BCCI had already announced Team India's squad for the Asian Games 2026. Once again Shreyas Iyer was given the responsibility of captaincy for this tournament. At the same time, experienced players like Sanju Samson, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Ishan Kishan are also part of this squad. Apart from these, 15 year old young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi has got a place in the team. Now it remains to be seen whether this Indian team goes to Japan or BCCI sends its 'B' team.
