Dehradun. After the massive flood in Nepal’s Bhotekoshi river on August 26, the helpline established at the Uttarakhand State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) has so far received reports of six people missing or not being contacted. Apart from India, these also include people from America, Canada and Britain.
According to the report released by the Emergency Operation Center at 8:30 pm on Friday night, Dharchula resident Chanchal Dhami informed that his sister Meena Gupta, who is a British citizen and is associated with Isha Foundation, is missing from Gyirong Immigration Center in Nepal.
Mumbai resident Rahul Purohit told that America resident Jignesh Merchant and Tejal Merchant had gone through Nepal for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and they are not able to be contacted.
Haridwar resident Ankit Sharma told that Mumbai residents Ramaraman and N.R.K. Raman had gone on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Nepal and could not be contacted. Dharchula resident Ravi Ranjan has reported Mumbai resident Veena Kulkarni missing from Temur border area.
Gurgaon resident Nidhi Sharma said that her friend’s husband Pankaj Nath, who is an immigration officer in London, is missing after the disaster in Nepal.
Apart from this, according to the information received from Uttarkashi District Emergency Operation Center, Mohit Kaushik, a resident of Canada, had also gone to Nepal for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and he is not able to be contacted.
According to SEOC, after all the information received on the helpline, the State Emergency Operation Center has contacted the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and shared the information to the missing people. Coordination is being done on the information received.
