Delhi Government's Industry and Environment, Forest and Wildlife Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa visited Adarsh ​​Nagar assembly constituency on Thursday and reviewed the works to industrial infrastructure, environment protection, waste management and green space. During the review meeting, the Minister directed the officials to make the road and drainage system in the area sustainable. He said that along with improving the basic facilities in industrial areas, special attention should also be paid to environmental protection.

Minister Sirsa held a meeting with Adarsh ​​Nagar MLA Raj Kumar Bhatia and reviewed the ongoing development works in Rajasthan Udyog Nagar, Jahangirpuri. Senior officials of DSIIDC, Forest Department, Food and Supplies Department and other departments were present in the meeting. Representatives of the local industrial sector also participated in the meeting. During the review, the Minister directed the officials to make the road and drainage system in the industrial area better and sustainable. He said that along with the development of infrastructure in industrial areas, special attention should be paid to arrangements like drainage, so that people and industries do not face problems.

Emphasis on quality of road and drainage works

Reviewing the road and rain water drainage works being done by DSIIDC in Udyog Nagar, Minister Sirsa said that any negligence in the quality of construction works done with government money will not be tolerated. He directed the officials that all construction work should be as per the accepted design and technical standards and their quality should be such that the infrastructure remains sustainable in the long run. Sirsa said the government's aim is not just to complete construction work, but to create infrastructure that works effectively for years. He directed to ensure proper audit at both the design and implementation levels.

Instructions for regular cleaning and maintenance of drains

The Minister asked to make effective arrangements for regular cleaning and maintenance of rain water drainage drains. He also stressed on scientifically controlling the waste water coming out of industrial units and preventing it from going into the storm water drainage system. He directed to make proper chambers at the inlet and outlet of drains to improve inspection and monitoring, so that water flow and possible pollution can be monitored effectively.

Strictness on pollution and open burning of wires

Sirsa directed the concerned departments including Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to strengthen monitoring regarding violation of environmental norms in the industrial area. He particularly expressed concern over open burning of tar and unscientific disposal of waste. The minister asked the officials to ensure strict action against such activities. Sirsa made it clear that Delhi's industrial development cannot happen at the cost of the environment. He said that action should be taken as per rules against industrial units violating environmental standards and activities like burning wires in the open will not be tolerated under any circumstances. During the review, work to green area and environmental protection was also discussed. The Minister directed the concerned departments to maintain a balance between environmental protection with industrial activities and focus on conservation of green areas.

Plantation campaign will run in the green belt

The plan to increase green area in Adarsh ​​Nagar assembly constituency was also discussed in the meeting. A joint survey of the available green belt areas will be conducted by forest department officials and representatives of local associations. On the basis of the survey, suitable places will be identified and a plantation campaign will be conducted there. Its objective is to increase green cover in the area and improve the environmental balance between industrial activities.

Instructions to implement decisions in a time bound manner

Minister Sirsa said that along with the development of industrial areas, it is important to pay equal attention to environmental improvement and better public services. He directed the concerned departments to coordinate with the local MLA and other stakeholders to implement the decisions taken in the meeting in a time bound manner. He said the government aims to simultaneously advance better infrastructure, clean industry, strong green sector and efficient public services. Such review meetings at the assembly level will help in identifying ground problems and their effective solutions.
