LPG Prices (August 29, 2026): Oil companies have made no changes to the prices of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders across the country today, August 29, 2026. This means customers will pay the same price for a cylinder today as they did last month. Current LPG rates remain stable in major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai. The price of domestic LPG has long been a significant issue for the public, especially given the persistent impact of inflation on household budgets. Domestic cylinder prices hiked in June.

The last change in the price of domestic LPG occurred in June 2026. At that time, oil companies raised the price by ₹29 per cylinder. Consequently, the price of a 14.2 kg cylinder in Delhi rose from ₹913 to ₹942, and there has been no change since then.

Commercial LPG became cheaper in August.

Businesses using commercial LPG received relief on August 1. Following a softening of crude oil prices in the international market, oil companies reduced the price of 19 kg cylinders by approximately ₹192 to ₹209 across various cities.

Escalating trouble in the Strait of Hormuz

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East is also impacting international shipping. There has been a sharp decline in the number of vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Only five vessels passed through this route on August 25, compared to seven the previous day. Disruptions along this route have raised concerns regarding the global supply of oil and gas.

**Attack on Oil Tanker off the Coast of Oman**

Meanwhile, reports have emerged of an attack on the oil tanker *AL SALAM II* off the coast of Oman, involving an unidentified missile or projectile. According to reports, an explosion occurred in the ship's engine room following the attack, resulting in a fire. Due to the damage sustained, the tanker is currently unable to continue its voyage. Suspicion regarding the attack has fallen on Iran's IRGC, although independent confirmation of responsibility is still required.

**Continued Focus on LPG Prices**

Domestic LPG prices remain stable for now; however, oil companies are closely monitoring the international oil and gas markets as well as the situation in the Middle East. Consequently, the possibility of changes in LPG prices in the near future cannot be ruled out.
