The opening game of the new Bundesliga season has now officially begun. And right away, one of the players on the pitch is marking two notable personal milestones.
As expected, Manuel Neuer has started in goal for the record champions, making his 600th competitive appearance for FC Bayern. At the same time, he is beginning his 21st Bundesliga season.
As is widely known, he joined Munich from Schalke 04 in 2011 and has since gone on to establish himself as an out-and-out club legend.
During his time in a Bayern shirt, he has not only collected numerous league titles and celebrated cup triumphs, but has also lifted the Champions League trophy twice. And that is only up to this point. Who knows how many more honours could still follow. After all, even at 40 years of age, he quite clearly still has a genuine appetite for football.
Even so, those numbers are already hugely impressive.
