Arsenal transfer latest: Marcus Rashford’s stance already clear after Manchester United call

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been linked with a move to Arsenal ahead of transfer Deadline Day.

Rashford is not expected to join Arsenal this summer unless there is a dramatic late change of direction.

With transfer Deadline Day closing in, the Gunners are still willing to add to their squad after bringing in Illan Meslier, Christos Tzolis, Bruno Guimaraes and Ezri Konsa.

Standard Sport has reported that attack, most likely the left-wing position, is the area Arsenal want to strengthen if the right opportunity presents itself before the window shuts on Tuesday night.

Arsenal are also continuing to work quietly on a deal for Julian Alvarez, and it is understood that Atletico Madrid may be prepared to sell to the Gunners for the right fee after refusing to do business with Barcelona.

Even so, the Independent has reported that Arsenal could yet make a late loan approach for Rashford.

According to that report, any move for Rashford would be separate from their pursuit of Alvarez and would instead come in response to Gabriel Martinelli’s expected departure, with the Brazilian set to join Al-Hilal.

However, The Athletic reported earlier this summer that Rashford does not want to leave Manchester United for another Premier League club, with only a move abroad appealing to him at that stage.

United were also determined to avoid sanctioning a third loan spell, with the England international having spent the last two seasons at Aston Villa and Barcelona.

As things stand, therefore, unless the 28-year-old changes his mind and United alter their position on a loan deal, Rashford does not appear likely to move to the Emirates Stadium.

Rashford made his first appearance for Manchester United since December 2024 in the defeat to Hull City on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season, coming on for Patrick Dorgu at half-time.

He wore the No. 9 shirt that day, which only added to speculation that he is set to stay where he is.
