New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for a four-day foreign tour on Saturday. Let us tell you, during this visit which will run from August 29 to September 1, PM Modi will visit Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. According to the information, the tour will start from Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, where he will hold bilateral talks with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. After this he will reach Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan and participate in the 26th summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
What topics will be discussed
Before leaving for the tour, PM Modi said that the strategic relations between India and Uzbekistan have continuously strengthened over the years. He said that in the talks with President Mirziyoyev, there will be discussion on increasing cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, digital connectivity, defense and energy. Along with this, emphasis will also be laid on pursuing common priorities regarding development between the two countries.
Shastri ji's memories to Tashkent
The historical importance of Tashkent will also be special during PM Modi's visit. The city has a deep connection with former Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri. After the India-Pakistan war of 1965, the Tashkent Agreement was signed here between the two countries. The agreement was signed on 10 January 1966 by the then Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri and President of Pakistan Ayub Khan.
The then Prime Minister of the Soviet Union, Alexei Kosygin, played the role of mediator between the two countries. A few hours after the agreement, Shastri ji died on the night of 11 January due to deteriorating health, the cause of death was officially said to be heart attack. Let us tell you, PM Modi will also visit Shastri Memorial and Mahatma Gandhi Center in Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
India's stance against terrorism in SCO
After Tashkent, PM Modi will attend the SCO conference in Bishkek. He said that India will present its perspective on security, connectivity and development on the platform of the organization. Along with this, emphasis will be laid on working together with member countries to deal with challenges like terrorism, separatism and extremism. PM Modi expressed hope that the visit will further strengthen India's strategic and cultural ties with Central Asia and give impetus to joint efforts for peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
