In Bilara town of Jodhpur district of Rajasthan, a lover murdered his girlfriend and buried her body in his field. To complete this plan, the accused had watched Ajay Devgan's film Drishyam more than 10 times so that he could dodge the police. This secret was revealed after 5 months when the police excavated the field and took out the skeleton.

Raju Giri, a resident of Pichiyak village of Bilara, used to work as a travel agent. About two years ago, he met Leela Devi, a resident of Beawar, in a hotel in Jaitaran. After this both came into love relationship. Because of this relationship, the disabled wife of the accused left him and went to her maternal home. To please his girlfriend, Raju had also given her his wife's jewellery. Leela's demands kept increasing and she demanded another Rs 2 lakh, due to which Raju got fed up and conspired to murder her.

murdered in the field

On March 13, Leela came to Raju on his call from Beawar. The accused took him to a field in Khokhariya village, about 40 kilometers from his home. On the night of 14 and 15 March, he first made Leela drink alcohol and then killed her by hitting her with a stick. After this, the dead body was thrown among the bushes in the corner of the field so that wild animals could eat it.

No one complained for about a month after the murder because the accused knew that Leela had lived with him many times before. On April 11, the deceased's father Kalu Singh lodged a missing report at Saket Nagar police station in Beawar. When the police asked Raju, he said that Leela had come to him on March 15 and then went away. Leela's phone was also active till March 15, so the police did not suspect it.

After about 4 months, on August 11, the son of the deceased filed a case of kidnapping and murder. After this the police strictly caught Raju Giri and interrogated him. This time the accused confessed to the crime but was confident that the police would not find the body unless he told it himself. He fabricated many false stories to mislead the police.

First he said that he had thrown the body in the pond but nothing was found. After this he said that the body had been burnt on someone's burning pyre in the crematorium but there too nothing was found in the ashes. For the third time, he created a false story that he had asked a person named Vijay Singh, a resident of Pichiyak, to dispose of the body by paying Rs 20,000. Whereas investigation revealed that the person had died 8 months ago in January itself.

The police and cyber team took technical help and noticed that the deceased's phone was active in Pichiyak till March 15. Whereas the location a day or two before that was Khokhariya village. On the basis of this clue, the police got the field excavated with a tractor. During the digging Raju broke down and told the truth.

Police recovered Leela's skeleton, bones, bag and Aadhar card from the field. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had planned the murder since January-February and had taken the idea of hiding the dead body after watching Ajay Devgan's film Drishyam more than ten times.
