Patna. Amidst the ongoing controversy regarding reservation in Bihar, Union Minister Chirag Paswan has given a big statement on Saturday. Chirag Paswan has demanded the resignation of Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and his son Santosh Kumar Suman.

Chirag Paswan said that when the basis of reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the Constitution is not economic but social, then why are these people talking like this? He said that if this is what has to be done, then if Parliament has the courage, then both the father and son, who are ministers, one in the Center and one in Bihar, should first resign and then talk about discussion. He said that there is no provision for reservation on economic basis in the Constitution. He said that everyone knows the extent of untouchability in the society even today. Big leaders of Congress have also given statements on this issue. What is the situation in the society even today? Everyone knows this.

'Reservation should be on social basis only'

Chirag Paswan said that if we step back on the issue of reservation today, we will have no one to ask questions. Therefore, reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes should remain only on social basis. He said that I always talk about this and will always continue to do so.

Chirag called reservation a protective shield of social justice

Chirag Paswan has written on X Post that reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) in the Constitution is not just a provision of opportunity, but a protective shield of social justice against social discrimination, untouchability and inequality that has been going on for centuries.

In such a situation, the demand for 'creamy layer' or sub-categorization in SC/ST reservation is going to weaken the basic objective of social justice. As long as discrimination and inequality persist in the society, our fight to protect the rights, honor and self-respect of the deprived and exploited classes will continue with full strength.
