RepTopia is a reptile and amphibian attraction within Singapore Zoo, part of the Mandai Wildlife Reserve.

Video shared on Instagram shows the snake moving across a rocky structure beside the enclosure as visitors watch. Two staff members then secure the animal, with one holding its tail while supporting the rest of its body, according to AsiaOne.

Staff capture the snake because of its small size and quick movements, which could pose a risk in the crowded area. It is later released back into the wild.

The sighting startles a visitor identified online as Azulesoctopus, who is about to enter the reptile exhibit when another guest alerts staff. “My heart skipped a beat,” the visitor says.

Mandai Wildlife Group says snakes generally avoid people and are unlikely to cause harm unless they feel threatened or are provoked. “If given sufficient space, they will usually leave on their own,” a spokesperson tells 8days.

Singapore’s Animal and Veterinary Service advises members of the public not to handle snakes themselves, warning that doing so could stress or injure the animal and cause it to bite in self-defense.

The agency recommends remaining calm, backing away slowly and giving the snake enough room to retreat. Snakes are generally shy and do not attack unless they are provoked or cornered, it says.
