Lucknow. The newly constructed Fragrance Park in the Chowk area of ​​the capital was inaugurated by Defense Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh on Saturday. On this occasion, life-size statues of Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai and Shaheed Azam Bhagat Singh installed in the park premises were also unveiled. Also, the foundation stone of various development works proposed at a cost of about Rs 43 crore was laid.

Addressing the ceremony, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that Sardar Bhagat Singh was the symbol of the energy of young India while Lala Lajpat Rai represented the experienced India. Nation building requires both energy and experience. The statues of both the great freedom fighters installed in Fragrance Park truly give the message of dialogue between two generations.

He said that in today's lifestyle people are not able to give enough time to each other. Children are also spending large amounts of time in front of screens. In such times, parks and open public places work to connect people with each other. Parks are an important part of the social infrastructure of any city. He said that development should be such that there is better coordination between concrete and nature.

Rajnath Singh said that he wants holistic and inclusive development of Lucknow. There should be greenery, better connectivity and expansion of civic amenities at every place in the city. His endeavor is that the development of Lucknow should be felt not only in figures but in the lives of the people. A city is not only made up of roads, malls and buildings, but parks, open grounds, greenery and civic amenities are also an important part of the city's development. He appreciated the work of Lucknow Development Authority in this direction.

Earlier, regional MLA Dr. Neeraj Bora said that the families who came to India from Pakistan after facing the horror of India-Pakistan partition in the year 1947, started their lives afresh in different parts of the country. Wherever the displaced families were settled, their struggle and memories were honored through names like Lajpat Nagar. He said that his wish was that a beautiful park should be developed in the name of Lala Lajpat Rai and statues of Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai and Shaheed Azam Bhagat Singh should be installed in the campus. In this regard he had requested Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

During the program, the Defense Minister planted a sandalwood sapling in the park premises under the Ek Peed Maa ke Naam campaign. After this, by pressing the button, the statues of both the great freedom fighters were unveiled. Various types of aromatic and medicinal plants have been planted in the Fragrance Park. With this, it will develop into a green, fragrant and healthy public space for the citizens of the area.

In the programme, a short film focusing on the human tragedy of the partition of India 80 years ago was telecast. Through the film, the struggle of the families who suffered displacement and suffering during Partition was presented. Along with this, a short film of Lucknow Development Authority based on various development works taking place in Lucknow was also displayed. On this occasion, the Defense Minister greeted the families who came to India from Pakistan at the time of partition. These included former MLA Vidyasagar Gupta, former mayor Sanyukta Bhatia and Jaswant Kaur.

Features of Lala Lajpat Rai Fragrance Park

More than 200 species of aromatic and ornamental plants have been planted in Lala Lajpat Rai Fragrance Park, developed in an area of ​​2.3 acres in Lajpat Nagar, Hussainabad, Old Lucknow. Flowers like Jasmine, Champa, Bela, Mogra and Gandharaj are the main features of the park. The complex also has a café, open theatre, swings and seating for children, ramps for the physically challenged and visually impaired and Braille information panels. The life-size statues of Lala Lajpat Rai and Shaheed Bhagat Singh in the park connect the legacy of the freedom struggle to the new generation. Developed in the heritage zone of old Lucknow, this park is a beautiful confluence of greenery, fragrance, entertainment and history.
