Samuele Ricci has officially completed a move to Como from Milan on loan, with an option for the club to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season in a deal that could reach €23.5m plus bonuses.

The midfielder had his medical examinations over the past couple of days and, as a result, was not included in the Rossoneri squad for last night’s 2-0 Serie A win over Venezia at San Siro.

He signed his contract today on a loan agreement that includes the option to complete a permanent transfer at the end of the campaign.

According to several reports, the loan fee is €1.5m, while the purchase option is set at another €22m, with additional performance-related bonuses.

Milan had paid €23m plus add-ons to sign Ricci from Torino last summer, but he went on to make only 34 appearances for the club, scoring one goal.

He never became a regular starter in midfield and looked even less likely to feature consistently this season under new coach Ruben Amorim.

The Italy international is 25 years old and has made more than 200 senior appearances in Italian football.

“Samuele is a player we know well,” Como coach Cesc Fabregas told the club’s official website.

“He has great technical quality, intelligence and an excellent ability to manage the ball. I am convinced that his qualities fit well with our style of play and that he can bring a lot to the team.

“We are very happy to have him with us, and we can’t wait to start working together.”
