TVS Motor Company has overtaken Ola Electric to become India's largest electric two-wheeler company by making major inroads in the domestic market. According to data from the vehicle portal, the total sales of TVS reached 11,27,873 units till August 24, while the sales of Ola Electric were recorded at 11,17,031 units.

Record jumps and sales figures

Ola Electric dominated the market initially, but since April 2025, TVS has steadily strengthened its position to take the number one spot. As of July 2026, Ola Electric was ahead of TVS by around 16 thousand units. However, in the first 24 days of August, TVS sold 35,304 electric scooters, while Ola managed to sell only 8,466 units. This quick turnaround gave TVS a historic lead over Ola.

In the current year 2026 till August 24, TVS has sold 3,42,958 electric scooters, showing a steep year-on-year growth of 75 percent.

In June 2026, TVS recorded its highest ever monthly record by selling 55,7,83 units in a single month. According to this fast trend, TVS is on track to cross the 5 lakh sales mark in 2026.

Challenges facing Ola Electric

On the other hand, the past few months have been tough for Ola Electric. Ola, which sold 4,29,187 units in 2024 and accounted for 35 percent of the market, faced a decline in 2025 to 2,04,542 units. In 2026, till August 24, the company was able to sell only 88,910 units and its market share fell to 7 percent. Currently brands like Bajaj, Aether and Hero along with TVS have gone ahead of Ola.
