Samay Raina is no stranger to headlines. The controversial comedian, who landed in legal trouble over objectionable jokes and abusive language on his popular show India’s Got Latent last year, is back at it again! His Season 2's latest episode recently left a section of the internet irked over insensitive jokes about the Kashmiri Pandit and Bihari communities. For those unaware, Raina, known for his dark humour, engaged in a brutal roast battle with panellist and comedian Sharon Verma. While fans called it an epic showdown, some took offence at the jokes. But amid the controversy, Samay appears to be focusing on the positive side.

Samay Raina’s latest  episode has created a new record for the comedy show. According to the comedian's Instagram Story, it has clocked over 31.9 million views to emerge as its most-viewed episode so far.

Reacting to this, Samay wrote on his social media handle, "Thank you so much for an overwhelming response on this episode."

During their roast battle in the latest episode, Samay took a dig at Sharon, saying, "She’s so Bihari, she thinks Ebola means someone said something." Sharon hit back with: " is so Kashmiri, he loves getting stoned." He then said, "You know, Sharon Verma is a Bihari who came to Mumbai in search of a job. Just Bihari things." Sharon responded, "At least I left my state by my choice."

 

After their video went viral on social media, BJP MLA Ram Kadam raised objections and criticised the comments made on the show about Indian states and communities. He said that certain forces deliberately make controversial statements to gain publicity and become famous. He emphasised that Hindu deities and Kashmiri Pandits cannot be treated as subjects of ridicule. He further argued that people cannot deliberately make offensive remarks and then simply apologise, as they would have already received the publicity they sought.

Meanwhile, Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari also hit out at the remarks. He said that derogatory comments were unacceptable and expressed concern over statements about "breaking the country."
