Comedian Samay Raina’s show ‘India’s Got Latent’ is once again in controversy. Controversy has arisen over the joke to Bihar and Kashmir in the conversation with Sharon Verma in the recent episode of the show. Political reactions are also emerging in this matter.
Now actor Manoj Bajpayee has given his opinion on this entire controversy and said that it is important to maintain respect along with joking and mutual spontaneity.
Laugh at the joke, but also remain respectful
Manoj Bajpayee said while talking to IANS that if the purpose of something is just for fun and laughter, then he has no problem with it. He believes that people should learn to laugh at themselves and joke with others. However, while doing comedy, it is also important to keep in mind that the feelings and identity of the person in front should not be insulted.
According to the actor, when two people are comfortable with each other, it is natural for them to joke, but respect for the other person should not be ignored while setting the limits of humour.
Manoj remembered his initial period spent in Delhi
Manoj Bajpayee also shared an old incident to his life. He told that in the initial days of coming to Delhi, when he was about 18 years old, he was not aware of the rules of traveling by bus. Meanwhile, a bus driver scolded him, calling him ‘Bihari’ and asked him to board from the back door.
Manoj told that he did not feel bad about this, because he himself comes from Bihar and was new in the city at that time. Later he became friends with people from different states and everyone used to joke about each other’s region. According to him, such humorous conversations can be a part of spontaneity and mutual bonding in the society.
Leaders expressed displeasure over Sharon-Samay talks
In the episode of ‘India’s Got Latent’, Samay Raina had commented about Sharon Verma being a Bihari. Sharon also responded by saying that he left his kingdom of his own free will. After this he also satirized Samay Raina’s Kashmiri identity. The controversy increased after this part of the conversation came to light.
Expressing displeasure over the matter, BJP MLA Ram Kadam said that some people deliberately give controversial statements to gain publicity. Bihar Minister Mithilesh Tiwari also termed derogatory remarks against any community or citizen of the country as unacceptable. At the same time, Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur has expressed objection to the reference to Kashmiri Pandits and demanded an apology.
