LPG prices are stable after the cut on August 1

After the major reduction in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders on August 1, the rates of LPG cylinders in the country have remained at the old level. Even today on 30th August, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have not made any new changes in the prices of LPG cylinders. Now the eyes of consumers and businessmen across the country are fixed on whether there is any revision in gas prices in the coming new month i.e. 1st September or not.

Let us tell you that on August 1, oil marketing companies had made a huge cut in the rate of 19 kg commercial cylinder by Rs 209. This relief was given for the second consecutive month. Earlier in the month of July also, the price of commercial cylinder was reduced by Rs 179. However, during both these cuts, the prices of 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinder were kept the same. According to experts, compared to the increase in the prices of commercial cylinders this year, the reduction in the last two months has been much less.

Global crisis and India's LPG strategy

This month, a new target of LPG production has been set for oil refinery companies by the Central Government. Earlier, just a few days after the outbreak of international war, the central government had given strict instructions to domestic companies to increase LPG production. In fact, before the war started, India had been importing a large part of its LPG requirement from other Arab countries including Qatar.

But due to the war, the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz came to a complete halt, due to which the import of LPG to India suddenly stopped. To deal with this major energy crisis, India changed its strategy and kept the supply chain smooth by increasing domestic production as well as started importing LPG from other countries like America.

Talking about the current rates of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder in major cities of the country, its price in Mumbai is Rs 941.50. Apart from this, domestic cylinder is available for Rs 968 in Kolkata, Rs 957.50 in Chennai, Rs 950.50 in Gurugram, Rs 939.50 in Noida and Rs 968 in Bhubaneswar. A 14.2 kg cylinder is priced at Rs 951.50 in Chandigarh, Rs 994 in Hyderabad, Rs 979.50 in Jaipur and Rs 1031.50 in Bihar's capital Patna.

Whereas the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been recorded at Rs 2872.50 in Kolkata, Rs 2691.50 in Mumbai, Rs 2906 in Chennai, Rs 2755 in Gurugram, Rs 2738 in Noida and Rs 2908 in Bhubaneswar. Despite the recent cut, the rate of commercial cylinder in Patna, Bihar still remains at a high level of Rs 3018.
