Hanoi family steamed rice rolls’ 100-year journey from street stall to Michelin list

In its early days, the shop served only the pork version before adding shrimp and chicken. Van once sold other dishes too, but the shop now focuses on Cuon cake and bun thang noodle soup, which it added in 2013.
A plate of pork Cuon cake costs VND45,000 (US$1.70), while the chicken and shrimp versions cost VND50,000 and VND65,000.
Side dishes include pork rolls, Chinese sausage and eggs, priced from VND10,000 (40 cents) per piece.
“My prices are higher than average because I use selected ingredients, and I’m glad customers are accepting of that,” Van says.
