Bhubaneswar: Odisha-born entrepreneur Subroto Bagchi will head an advisory body on skill development in Karnataka.
Bagchi, the co-founder of Mindtree, has been appointed chairman of the ‘Vision Group for Skill Development’ by the Karnataka government.
The advisory body will provide strategic direction to the skilling ecosystem in the Congress-ruled state.
The body has been constituted in accordance with the Karnataka State Skill Policy 2025-32, which aims to build a future-ready industry-relevant workforce across all regions and sectors of Karnataka.
“At the behest of Govt of Karnataka, honoured & delighted to be Chairman of the Vision Group on Skill Development. We will build the landing ground for the future to arrive. We have done it before. We will do it again. It is a privilege to be here to serve the Youth of Tomorrow,” Bagchi wrote in a social media post on Sunday.
The 69-year-old Bagchi had served as chairperson of Odisha Skill Development Authority for seven years during the Naveen Patnaik-headed Biju Janata Dal (BJD) rule in the state.
Bagchi was also chief advisor to the Odisha government for institutional capacity building across all civil services training institutions of the state.
