Tashkent. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the Indian expatriate community is playing the role of a strong and vibrant bridge between India and Uzbekistan. The Prime Minister, who arrived in Tashkent on a two-day state visit to Uzbekistan, was warmly welcomed by the Indian community. During this, a glimpse of Indian culture and Uzbek traditions was also seen.

Prime Minister Modi on Saturday expressed happiness over the welcome of the Indian community on the social media platform 'X'. He said that NRIs are playing an important role in further strengthening the friendship between the two countries.

Women tied Rakhi to PM Modi

Some women of the Indian community in Tashkent tied Rakhi to Prime Minister Modi during his meeting with him. A unique combination of Indian and Uzbek traditions was also seen in the cultural program.

The Prime Minister watched the performances of the artists and also watched the children's dance program with great attention. After the program was over, he shook hands with the children and encouraged them.

Confluence of Tabla, Doira and Chang seen

Sharing a glimpse of the tabla performance on 'X', Prime Minister Modi appreciated the fusion of Indian and Uzbek musical traditions. He said that musical instruments like Tabla, Doira and Chang together showed the cultural closeness of the two countries.

This cultural connect is an important medium to understand the relations between India and Uzbekistan even at the level of common people. The two countries have long-standing historical and cultural ties.

Modi reached 'Yangi Uzbekistan Memorial'

After reaching Tashkent, Prime Minister Modi visited the 'Yangi Uzbekistan Memorial' along with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The Prime Minister described it as a symbol of the aspirations and progress of the people of Uzbekistan.

The two leaders also visited the artefacts depicting Uzbek culture and history in Yangi Uzbekistan Park.

President Mirziyoyev himself reached the airport and welcomed

Prime Minister Modi thanked President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his warm welcome at Tashkent airport. As a special honour, President Mirziyoyev himself reached the airport and received Prime Minister Modi.

Prime Minister Modi said that this is his fourth visit to Uzbekistan and it reflects the depth and ever-growing momentum of bilateral relations between the two countries. Relations between India and Uzbekistan have continuously strengthened in the last 12 years.

Why is Uzbekistan tour important for the common Indian?

Relations between India and Uzbekistan are not limited to diplomacy only. Areas such as trade, culture, education and people-to-people contacts between the two countries are also important for common citizens.
