Cockroach Janata Party has accused the government of not fulfilling promises made to students. According to CJP, three out of four demands are pending. The party will march from India Gate to Delhi Police Headquarters on September 5.

New Delhi: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has accused the government of not yet fully implementing its demands to students. The organization said on social media platform X on Saturday that the government cannot escape the matter by giving incomplete assurances. According to the CJP, out of the four major demands put forward to the government during the agitation, three are still pending.

The organization has said that it will again take out a march in Delhi on September 5 regarding the pending demands. This march is planned to start from India Gate and reach Delhi Police Headquarters in New Delhi. CJP has also appealed to supporters and common people to join the march.

Pressure on the government regarding three demands

According to CJP, out of the four demands placed before the government, expected action has not been taken yet on three. Key demands of the organization include compensation to the families of students who allegedly committed suicide following the NEET exam controversy.

Apart from this, a demand has also been made to withdraw the FIR registered against the protesters and not take any further action against them. The third pending demand is from RAF i.e. Rapid Action Force and Delhi Police to apologize to the protesters.

CJP says that the government had earlier given assurances on these issues, but according to the organization, all the promises have not yet been implemented at the ground level. For this reason he has again chosen the path of agitation.

March from India Gate to Police Headquarters on 5th September

As per the program announced by CJP, the march on September 5 will start from India Gate and reach New Delhi Police Headquarters. According to the organization, the march will also include families of students who allegedly committed suicide following the NEET paper leak and controversy surrounding the exam.

The party has said that the purpose of this march is to again draw the government’s attention towards the pending demands. CJP claims that many of the issues on which the government had given assurance of action while ending the movement, are still waiting for solution.

The decision to start the movement again was taken in the virtual meeting of the CJP Working Committee on 24 August. The organization alleged that an assurance was given to close the cases registered against the students, but this has not happened till now.

Giving a message to the government, CJP said that the patience of the protesters should not be considered as their weakness.

The movement started at Jantar Mantar from 20th June

CJP had started the agitation at Jantar Mantar in Delhi from June 20 with demands to NEET paper leak and alleged irregularities in the examination. During the protest, the organization had raised the demand for transparency in the examination process and justice in matters to students.

During the movement, the protesters prominently raised various issues to the students and their families. The organization said that any kind of irregularity in the examination has the biggest impact on the hard-working students.

After protests that lasted for more than a month, on July 25, CJP had announced the end of the movement. According to the organization, this decision was taken after assurance from the government.

There was a meeting with government representatives on July 25.

CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das had met Union Minister JP Nadda on July 25. According to the organization, in this meeting an agreement was reached between the government and the protesters regarding their demands.

CJP had postponed its agitation in view of the assurance given by the government at that time. However, now the organization alleges that expected action was not taken on the issues decided.

For this reason the party has decided to take to the streets again. The march of 5th September will be the next phase of this movement.

There was a dispute during the Parliament march on 20th July

CJP had earlier tried to march towards Parliament on July 20. According to the organization, permission for this march was not received from the police. Despite this, the protesters tried to move towards the Parliament.

During this time there was a dispute regarding the action of the police. CJP had alleged that force was used against the protesters and lathicharge was done. The organization had also raised the demand for accountability regarding this action.

The matter of police action later reached the Supreme Court, where it was decided to form a high-powered committee to investigate the incidents that took place during the protest and the alleged police action.

Supreme Court formed five-member investigation committee

On August 20, the Supreme Court had announced the names of the members of the five-member high-powered committee to investigate the allegations to police action during the Parliament march.

This committee is headed by former Supreme Court judge R. Has been handed over to Subhash Reddy. Former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Ravi Shankar Jha and former judge of Delhi High Court Justice Shalinder Kaur have also been included in the committee.

Apart from this, former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director Rishi Kumar Shukla and retired Meghalaya Director General of Police Dr. LR Bishnoi are also part of the investigation panel.

The committee has been formed to independently review the allegations to police action during the protest. The process of investigation and its findings can be important in deciding the future direction in this entire dispute.

CJP keeps an eye on police action and pending cases

CJP says that matters to students and protesters should not be left only at the level of assurance. The organization wants the government to take a clear decision on the cases of those against whom cases have been registered during the movement.

Along with the demand for withdrawal of the FIR, the organization is also demanding an apology for the action of the police and RAF. The CJP argues that peaceful protesting students and their families should be treated fairly.

However, the final position on many issues between the allegations made by the police and administration and the claims of CJP will become clear only through investigation and official action.

Why is the September 5 march important?

CJP’s new march is taking place at a time when the organization wants to increase pressure on the government to fulfill its earlier assurances. Due to this, the student movement and the political dispute to it are likely to intensify again.

The participation of students’ families in the march can make it an emotional and social issue. At the same time, the proposal of march to Delhi Police Headquarters will also keep the questions to police action and FIR at the center.

CJP has made it clear that he is in no mood to back down on his pending demands. The organization says that the government will have to implement the assurances given and take concrete action in matters to students.

At present, everyone’s eyes will be on the proposed march on September 5. What steps are taken by the administration regarding security arrangements, permission for the march and movement of protesters will also be important. The next strategy of CJP’s movement may also depend on the government’s action and the progress of the Supreme Court investigation process.
