The Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that seven players have been released from the Test squad after the Lord’s Test, with seven replacements named — five of them uncapped at Test level — for the final Test against England at Edgbaston.
Those released are Mohammad Rizwan, Imam‑ul‑Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Aamir Jamal, Muhammad Awais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad. Rizwan, Imam, Agha, Usman, and Khurram have all played in this series.
In their place, Pakistan has called up batters Saim Ayub (eight Tests) and Abdullah Fazal (two Tests), left‑arm spin‑bowling all‑rounder Arafat Minhas (three ODIs, four T20Is), left‑arm quick Mohammad Imran Jnr, Quaid‑e‑Azam Trophy 2025‑26 player of the tournament and wicketkeeper‑batter Saad Baig, and right‑arm pace all‑rounders Mohammad Imran (Imran Randhawa) and Razaullah. The new arrivals will link up with the squad ahead of the third Test against England.
There are also changes in the backroom staff: Sarfaraz Ahmed and Umar Gul have been released, with Mike Hesson and Ashley Noffke brought in as replacements.
Pakistan has already lost the series after surrendering to two abject defeats in the first two Tests at Headingley and Lord’s. In four outings thus far, it has failed to cross 200 with the bat in hand, and only two batters — Saud Shakeel and Abdullah Shafique — have managed to cross fifty.
