This time the festival of Shri Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated across the country on 4th September. There is special enthusiasm among the devotees regarding the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. This year, the festival of Janmashtami is being considered special because after about 15 years such a coincidence is taking place, when Rohini Nakshatra will also be there along with Ashtami Tithi during the midnight of Janmashtami. According to religious beliefs, Lord Shri Krishna was incarnated in Dwapar Yuga during Rohini Nakshatra at midnight on the Ashtami Tithi of Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha.
Therefore, the simultaneous occurrence of Ashtami Tithi and Rohini Nakshatra on Janmashtami has special significance. Usually Ashtami Tithi falls on the day of Janmashtami, but Rohini Nakshatra does not coincide every year. This time due to the coincidence of both, the religious importance of the festival has increased further.
Janmashtami Midnight Ashtami-Rohini Coincidence
From astrological point of view, the togetherness of Ashtami Tithi and Rohini Nakshatra on the night of Janmashtami is considered auspicious. On the Ashtami of Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha, there can be a situation of Moon being in Taurus, but it is not possible to get the coincidence of Rohini Nakshatra every year. This time these situations are happening simultaneously during the midnight of Janmashtami. It is believed that just as Lord Krishna was born on Ashtami Tithi, Rohini Nakshatra and midnight, by worshiping him at such a coincidence, devotees attain special virtues. This is the reason why this time Janmashtami is being considered a special occasion for the devotees.
