On which days will banks remain closed in September?

Holiday dates in September according to the Reserve Bank of India's holiday calendar:

4 September: Banks will remain closed in several states—including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Kerala, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh—on the occasion of Janmashtami (Vaishnav)/Krishna Jayanti.

11 September: There will be a bank holiday in the relevant areas of Rajasthan due to elections in the Jaipur Municipal Corporation region.

12 September: Banks will remain closed in Assam to mark the *Tirubhav Tithi* (death anniversary) of Srimanta Sankardev.

14 September: Banks will remain closed in Maharashtra, Odisha, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Telangana, Goa, and Andhra Pradesh on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi/Vinayaka Chaturthi/Ganesh Puja.

15 September: Banks will be closed in Gujarat, Odisha, and Goa on the occasion of Samvatsari (Chaturthi Paksha)/Nuakhai/Ganesh Chaturthi (second day).

21 September: Banks will remain closed in Assam and Kerala due to the birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardev and Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi.

22 September: Banks will remain closed in Jharkhand on the occasion of Karma Puja.

23 September: There will be a bank holiday in Jammu & Kashmir to mark the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji.

25 September: Banks will remain closed in Sikkim on the occasion of the Indra Jatra festival. Additionally, factoring in regular Sundays and the off-days for the second and fourth Saturdays, banks will remain closed for a total of 15 days in September. However, since these holidays vary by region, banks will not necessarily be closed everywhere on the same day.

Will digital banking services remain operational during the holidays?

Bank branches being closed certainly does not mean your banking services will come to a halt. You can continue to access digital services without interruption even during the holidays. You can use ATMs for cash withdrawals or deposits. Digital payments and fund transfers via Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, or BHIM UPI will remain functional. Routine account-related services, NEFT/IMPS transfers, and bill payments can be managed from the comfort of your home.
