A significant price hike has been announced on the first day of September. Effective September 1, LPG cylinder prices in the country have increased. However, this hike is limited to 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders, with prices rising by up to ₹10.50. Consequently, the price of a 19-kg commercial gas cylinder in Delhi has reached ₹2,747.50. The price for this cylinder is now ₹2,701 in Mumbai and ₹2,916.50 in Chennai.
Commercial LPG cylinders are used in hotels, restaurants, *dhabas*, and other commercial establishments. Additionally, the price of the 5-kg non-domestic LPG cylinder (at market rate) has been raised by ₹2, bringing it to ₹764.
**Commercial cylinder prices had dropped in August and July**
Prior to this, the prices of commercial LPG cylinders had decreased in August and July. The reduction was ₹209 in August and ₹183.50 in July. Before that, commercial LPG cylinder prices had risen seven consecutive times between January and June of this year; there were two hikes in March alone. These increases were driven by supply disruptions and concerns in the global LPG market caused by the US-Iran tensions in West Asia.
**No change in domestic LPG cylinder prices**
There has been no change in the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder. The last price revision occurred on June 7, 2026, when the rate was increased by ₹29. According to the Indian Oil Corporation website, the current price of a non-subsidized 14.2-kg domestic Indane LPG cylinder is ₹942 in Delhi. The price is ₹941 in Mumbai, ₹968 in Kolkata, and ₹957.50 in Chennai. Rates vary across states depending on local sales tax or VAT. Prices for standard 5-kg LPG cylinders and 'XTRALITE' cylinders also remain unchanged.
