Kathmandu. After the massive flood and landslide on the Nepal and Tibet border on August 26, the scene of devastation is continuously emerging. On Monday, 24 bodies, including those of a child, were recovered from a house turned into debris in Bidur area of ​​Nepal's Nuwakot district. Police fear that more people may still be buried under the debris.

So far, 955 people have been confirmed dead in this natural disaster. These include 939 deaths in Nepal and 16 deaths in Tibet. And 4,471 people are still reported missing. The administration and relief agencies have immediately provided relief material to about 65 thousand affected people.

158 Indian citizens were evacuated safely

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), 158 Indian citizens have been safely rescued since last week's floods. India is continuously cooperating in relief and rescue operations in Nepal.

Search operation of Indian tunnel team in Chilime and Langtang

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava said that the Indian Tunnel Rescue Team along with the Nepali Army is conducting search operations in Chilime and Langtang hydropower projects.

The Indian team reached the tunnel in Chilime by crossing inaccessible roads. At the same time, intensive search has been done up to 185 meters inside the tunnel in Langtang.

After the disaster, searching for people trapped in tunnels and inaccessible areas remains a big challenge for the rescue teams.

India is also helping in identifying the dead

Along with the rescue operation, India is also providing assistance in identifying the dead. A team of Indian forensic experts is collaborating with the Nepal Police's Central Forensic Science Lab in Kathmandu in identifying and documenting the deceased.

17 dead bodies found in UP's Gandak river

The impact of floods in Nepal has also reached Uttar Pradesh. Information has come to light that 17 dead bodies were washed away in the Gandak river of Uttar Pradesh due to the strong flood currents.

Of these, 13 bodies have been recovered from Khadda and Tamkuhi Raj tehsil areas of Kushinagar. Four bodies have been found from Maharajganj, including three women.

After post-mortem and DNA sampling of the dead bodies recovered in Maharajganj, they have been handed over to Nepal administration.

Target to restore infrastructure in 21 days

The Nepal government has formed a special task force to rebuild infrastructure in the areas affected by the Bhotekoshi river in Rasuwa.

This team has been given the responsibility to restore roads, suspension bridges, drinking water, communication and health services on war footing within 21 days.

China clarified regarding warning of heavy rain

China has clarified its position amid allegations of not being warned before the disaster. China says that its World Metrological Center had sent an email alert to Nepal 12 days before the incident regarding the possibility of heavy rains, landslides and flash floods.

Relief and rescue operations are still going on in Nepal. Due to a large number of people missing, there is a possibility of the death toll increasing further in the coming days.
