Ways to increase the efficiency of the lighter

In most of the families, lighter is used to light the gas stove. With a simple click a spark is produced and the gas burns. But sometimes, the lighter does not produce a spark even after repeated clicking. In such a situation, people often consider it bad and buy a new one.

However, sometimes the problem is simply due to dirt, moisture or a blockage in the spark part of the lighter. Therefore, some simple measures can be tried before throwing it away.

1. Clean the spark area

If dust, oil or dirt has accumulated around the spark pin of the lighter, the spark will not occur properly. Therefore, it is necessary to clean the dirt from the outside of the lighter and around the spark pin before using it.

For this you can take help of dry cloth or soft brush. Avoid scraping the inside with any sharp or metal object, as this may damage the spark system of the lighter.

2. Protect from moisture

Sometimes the lighter does not function properly due to moisture. If the lighter has become wet or exposed to moisture, allow it to dry completely before using it.

Keep it in a dry and ventilated place. Do not attempt to heat the lighter by placing it near bright sunlight, fire or any other heat source, as this may pose a safety hazard.

3. If you are not hearing the clicking sound then do this check

If there is no ticking or clicking sound when you press the lighter, it is possible that its ignition mechanism may be damaged. First, clean any dust or dirt stuck on the exterior of the lighter.

Also, make sure that the lighter is not broken, pressed or damaged in any part. If there is no clicking sound or spark even after cleaning, do not try to repair the lighter by disassembling it yourself. In such a situation, it is safer to buy a new lighter.

Pay special attention to safety

When trying to repair a gas lighter, do not test it by placing it near the gas. If the lighter is leaking gas, is broken or is heating abnormally, stop using it immediately.
