Shares of pharma and biotech company Symbiotech Pharmalab had a dull start in the stock market on Tuesday, September 1. The company’s shares were listed on NSE at a price of ₹ 988 per share, which is exactly equal to the final issue price of ₹ 988 of the IPO.
Business News: Shares of pharmaceutical and biotechnology company Symbiotech Pharmalab entered the stock market on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. The company’s IPO was very popular among investors and the issue was subscribed about 71.26 times. However, despite such strong demand, the shares started at the issue price on NSE.
Shares of Symbiotec Pharmalab were listed on NSE at ₹988 per share. This is exactly equal to the last IPO issue price of the company. In this way, investors on NSE neither received any premium nor suffered any loss at the time of listing.
Start with slight fall on BSE
The listing of the company’s shares on BSE was a bit weak. The shares opened at ₹978.20, about 0.99 per cent below the issue price of ₹988. This means that investors who acquired shares on BSE saw minor losses at the initial stage of listing. However, after the start of trading in the market, the stock gained momentum and reached above the listing price in early trade.
After flat listing, buying was seen in shares of Symbiotec Pharmalab. At around 10:30 am, the company’s shares reached the level of ₹ 1,028.40 on BSE. This price is about ₹40.40 or 4.09 per cent higher than the IPO price of ₹988. As per the available trading levels, the market capitalization of the company stood at around ₹6,597.82 crore.
In this way, the investors who were allotted shares in the IPO did not get much premium at the time of listing, but the rise in shares after listing gave them an opportunity for positive returns.
IPO was subscribed more than 71 times
Symbiotec Pharmalab IPO received an overwhelming response from investors. According to NSE data, 1,31,24,929 shares were offered under the IPO, while applications for about 93.52 crore shares were received for the issue. Overall the issue was subscribed about 71.26 times. Given such high demand, investors’ expectations before the company’s listing in the market were quite strong. However, the flat listing on NSE did not give a huge initial premium to these expectations.
The company and existing shareholders had planned to raise a total of about ₹1,757 crore through the Symbiotec Pharmalab IPO. This included the issuance of new equity shares worth about ₹150 crore, while an offer for sale (OFS) worth about ₹1,607 crore was involved. A portion of the new capital raised from the IPO is to be used to reduce the company’s debt and for general corporate needs.
The amount raised under OFS does not go to the company, but is received by the respective existing shareholders. The amount received from the fresh issue can be used in the company’s business.
