Maruti Suzuki has released sales figures for August 2026. The company sold a total of 2,19,220 units last month. In comparison, total sales of Maruti Suzuki in July were 2,41,421 units. That means there was a decline in the company's sales in August compared to July.

However, the company's entry-level cars Alto K10 and S-Presso received a good response last month. The combined sales of both the cars stood at 8,799 units in August, while a total of 6,853 units were sold in August 2025. In this way, the sales of both the cars have increased compared to last year.

Features of Maruti Alto K10

Maruti Alto K10 is among the affordable hatchback cars of the country. Along with low price, it has many features of everyday need and compact design. Despite the decline in sales of the hatchback segment, Alto K10 continues to have a good hold in the market.

The car has a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine. This engine produces 69hp power and 91Nm torque. For transmission, the option of 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT is available.

The manual variant can be easily driven in city traffic. Its engine response is good at low speed. However, at high speeds the engine noise can be heard inside the cabin. At the same time, slight jerks may be felt in the AMT variant in stop-and-go traffic.

The ex-showroom price of Maruti Alto K10 starts from around Rs 3.69 lakh. The on-road price of the base variant can reach around Rs 4.24 lakh. Price may vary depending on city and variant.

Features of Maruti S-Presso

Maruti S-Presso is also built on HEARTECT platform like Alto K10. Its design and SUV-like high stance make it different from other small cars. Its design is very much liked in small towns and rural areas.

The S-Presso has a ground clearance of about 180mm, which makes it easy to drive on bad and bumpy roads. The car has a boot space of 240 liters, which is useful for everyday use and for keeping luggage during long journeys.

It has a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine, which generates power of 66bhp and torque of 89Nm. It also has the option of AMT gearbox with 5-speed manual.

To maintain better mileage, the car has been provided with idle start/stop technology. The ex-showroom price of Maruti S-Presso starts from around Rs 3.50 lakh, while its starting on-road price can be around Rs 4.13 lakh. Final price may vary depending on city, variant and taxes.

Increase in sales of both cars

August data shows that even though Maruti Suzuki's overall sales may have been lower compared to July, demand for entry-level cars like Alto K10 and S-Presso has seen an improvement on a year-on-year basis. The combined sales of both the cars have increased by about 28 percent.
