The proposed Him-Chandigarh City in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh is set to be developed on the banks of Sarsa River. In this ambitious project, there is a plan to develop about 9 km long stretch of Sarsa River as river front. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday reviewed the progress of the proposed Him-Chandigarh City at Baddi near Chandigarh.
Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the state government will soon start the development work of this new city. The Chief Minister directed the officials to complete the necessary processes to the project soon, so that the construction work can start on time. Let us tell you that preparations are being made to develop it as a beautiful and facilities-equipped urban area on the lines of Sukhna Lake of Chandigarh.
New city will develop with modern facilities
The Chief Minister said that HIM-Chandigarh City will be developed as a systematic and sustainable city equipped with modern facilities and better infrastructure. He directed the officials to explore every possible option for the balanced and sustainable development of the city.
CM Sukhu also said that about 9 km long riverfront along the banks of Sarsa river should also be included in this project. This will enhance the beauty of the city and people will get clean, attractive and better public space to roam around. He also stressed on connecting the proposed city with better road network, so that the movement of people becomes easier and good connectivity can be provided in the city.
Economic activities and employment will get a boost
Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the proposed city will meet the growing urban needs of the area. Besides, economic activities will get a boost here and will also contribute significantly to the state's earnings.
Health Minister Dr. (Colonel) Dhani Ram Shandil, Town and Country Planning Minister Rajesh Dharmani, HIMUDA Vice President Yashwant Chhajta, MLAs Ram Kumar and Ajay Solanki, Principal Secretary Devesh Kumar, Secretary Amarjeet Singh and many senior officials were present in the meeting.
